Plenty of services describe themselves as available around the clock. The question worth asking is narrower: at 3 AM on a Sunday, is the turnaround the same, is the radiologist board-certified, and is there anyone to call when a submission fails?

That question is best asked before the first overnight case, when the answer costs nothing. The sections below describe what a coverage design has to get right for the promise to be real rather than aspirational.

What Round-the-Clock Should Mean

A single standard has three parts. The same priorities are available at every hour, the same certification applies to every read, and the same support sits behind the submission. If any of the three slips overnight, the coverage is partial, and partial coverage is exactly what an emergency practice cannot plan around.

How the Clock Is Covered

Approximately 30 radiologists spread globally means that the hours a single region finds difficult are ordinary working hours somewhere else. Coverage is a staffing design, not a best effort.

The design matters more than the headcount. A roster built on one time zone leaves its own small hours exposed; a global spread turns another region's midnight into a normal working shift. That spread is what makes 3 AM an ordinary hour rather than an emergency measure.

• Wet Read as the fastest option, read while you wait.

Two things are worth noticing in that list. The commitments are stated by modality, because a CT read and a radiograph are different work. And the Wet Read option exists overnight on the same terms as in daylight, for the case where nothing moves until the answer arrives.
